Easter Weekend was a little chilly but it didn't spoil our enjoyment. Friday evening Steve lit his firepit and lots of us sat around it singing, chatting and laughing. Nicky got out a few Poi Balls (LED light up swirling balls on string you twirl around to make patterns in the dark). Dee and Jack being professionals showed everyone how to use them and we all had a go. It was a lovely evening even if it was a little chilly.
Saturday evening saw our 'in house' band 'Safety First' play their first gig of the season. All was going well during the first half with Jack handing over his dancing queen tiara and wand to the new dancing queen Bonnie. The title was well deserved as Bonnie was one of the first on the dance floor and staying there until the music stopped, well done Bonnie. Unfortunately disaster struck when the generator decided to give up before the second half could continue. However, the evening was saved when David and Peter stepped in with their acoustic guitar and fiddle to entertain us...and entertain us they did! Peter was wonderful with his very theatrical vocals and David (as always) played beautifully and we enjoyed their performance very much. Thank you to both David and Peter for saving the evening.
On Sunday the first serious game of miniten was played. It was boys against girls and I would like to say it was a close match with a nail biting finish but to be honest the boys were slaughtered by the girls with the girls winning 6 - 0.
A couple of games of boules were played with the boys and girls winning a game each.
Over the weekend various people had brought in cakes and chocolate to share, thank you for sharing with us all. This is yet another reason our club and the people in it is so special, the way we share and think of each other like family always makes me smile.
