Apologies for not being able to update this blog as often as we would like but I hope you can understand that we are a little busy with hospital appointments etc lately. We are hoping that normal service will be resumed very soon.
The singles table tennis tournament was held on 6th August and it was a great success with nearly everyone taking part or watching lending support from the sidelines. The games were very entertaining as well as many showing surprising skills. I think the continued and constant use of the table has contributed to most people being able to step up their game. The eventual winners were Tracey in 2nd place and Steve taking 1st place. Thank you very much David and Sallie for organising and hosting. We also must thank Bonnie and her team for providing delicious cream tea's on the day. Personally I think Bonnie was trying to 'nobble' the opposition by weighing them down with all that cream.
On the 12th August we played the ever popular ten reds. Richard insisted before the competition commenced that he was going to win. However, this was not the case with him scoring the grand total of 0 on his first turn. This naturally resulted in everyone who actually scored making sure Richard knew about it. Steve managed to continue his winning streak by taking the trophy, well done Steve.
On the 13th August we had our 'Ladies Lunch' and gents 'Pie and a Pint'. Both were very successful, speaking as a 'lady' I truely believe our party was better than the gents. We had wonderful food and drink served by our victim... I mean 'waiter' for the afternoon Ricky. An enjoyable afternoon was had by all, the gents enjoyed pie, mash and peas with a pint (or two). The ladies screamed with laughter all afternoon with Ricky being a fantastic sport and taking everything that was thrown at him. Talking of things being thrown, the gents of course decided to do the now tranditional water bombing of the ladies lunch but were met with Hazel's wrath when she chased after them. I believe she managed to 'punish' 6 men, let's see if they have learnt their lesson by doing it all again next year. Thank you Tracey for hosting the Ladies lunch outside her beautifully decorated caravan, thank you Ricky for waiting on us and being such a good sport. Also a big thank you to Karl, Clyde and Steve for peeling all of those potatoes and to everyone who helped to cook and clean the kitchen afterwards.
