Ping Pong Comp Weekends

August 18, 2018

We have just had a lovely two weekends at the club, as usual it has been a hive of activity. The new surface for the boules court was laid with everyone (even a couple of our lovely visitors from Holland) pitching in to barrow the fine rock and gravel mixture down to the boules court. Peter made a 'scrap heap challenge' tractor-rake' to level it out perfectly. The boules court is enjoyed by many of us so we thank everyone involved from those that who helped the gravel into the barrow, those that walked the barrows down and those that worked so hard to prepare and level the court To those that did all of those jobs there is a special thank you from us too. Our lovely Dutch visitors really didn't have to help but they wanted to help. They had originally only intended to stay for one week but they loved the club so much they extended their visit, it was a pleasure to have them stay and it was sad to say 'Vaarwel' but we hope to see them back soon.

We had the pleasure of another visit from guest singer Richard who came to Invicta to entertain us again. Poor Richard seemed little thrown when we all got up to dance as he is not used to people dancing along to his performances. However, if he knew us all a little better he would know that we all love to dance and we certainly know how to enjoy ourselves. It was another great night by Richard, thank you and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. After Richard had finished entertaining us the evening continued with 'Ricky's' disco. Thank you also to Ricky for a great end to a fantastic evening.

The singles Ping Pong tournament was eventful I hear, unfortunately Steve and I were unable to be there for this yearly nail biting tournament as we had outside commitments. The Men's final was between Richard and 'Eddie' , sadly Richard won - we all know Richard is our very own lovable rogue like 'Wolf' from the TV series Gladiator, you know the one that everyone loves but boo's at therefore we just have to boo him at every sporting event and unfortunately very often he wins... Boooooooo! I mean well done Richard.

The ladies final was between Sallie and 'Brendon' (?) I believe that there was not enough ladies so 'Lady Boy 'Brendon' stepped up and became a lady for the event. The fact that he is actually a man didn't help him though as Sallie was the eventual winner. Well done Sallie!

The doubles tournament was equally nail biting with the final being between 'Big Twin' and 'Jack' verses Richard and 'Eddie. After a well fought battle Richard and 'Eddie' were victorious and took the Ping Pong doubles trophy this year. Well done both of you.

We hope you will all join us next weekend as the Bank Holiday promises to be a very enjoyable one. We have members from Oakwood Naturist Club joining us for the whole weekend so we welcome them as always to join in the events we have planned.
