Several of us were treated to a delicious meal cooked by a few of our lovely members. There was glazed gammon (finished on the BBQ), perfect roast potatoes, honey glazed sliced green beans with bacon bits, cauliflower cheese, honey glazed carrots and cabbage. I can honestly say it was a real treat and there was so much of it we were able to have 'seconds'. Desert was banoffee pie, white chocolate cheesecake and trifle. I couldn't make up my mind which to have so I had a bit of each (as did most of us). It was a lovely evening with delicious food, lovely company and we had the perfect setting sitting outside the Pavillion watching the sun set. Richard organised a barrel of Ripple Steam Best bitter to be brought into the club for the weekend which of course everyone enjoyed. He even made me the best Mojito I have ever tasted, I think he is trying very hard to bribe me into giving him good write-ups here. All I can say to him is "Keep the Mojito's coming and we will see..."
On Friday some Members from Oakwood Sun Club made their anual August Bank Holiday visit to Invicta and it was lovely to see old friends and catch up. Also Friday night was karaoke night, Steve and I set everything up beforehand and Steve went around asking for volunteers to start it off. We were delighted to have 22 people put their names forward before we even started. Thank you everyone for making it easy for us and starting the weekend off with a bang. It turned out to be a hilarious evening with the standard of some of the acts questionable but oooh so entertaining. Jim won the trophy of the night for his very own rendition of Rod Stewart's 'Sailing', well done Jim and I have to say well done everyone who took part. Tracey and Bianca's 'Blondie' number was worthy of a mention and who could forget Ricky and Bianca's performance of 'Summer Loving'. This seems like such a polular event that next year we may hold a few more karaoke evenings (if my ears recover in time).
