On Saturday the doubles table tennis competition was held by popular demand and it didn't disappoint. There were some very hard fought matches with the runners up being Dee and Jack and the eventual winners being David (of David and Sallie) and (boo/hiss) Richard.
Our resident chef Dave made some absolutely gorgeous home made, Belgium buns, chocolate eclaires and cream horns which Bonnie and her team served during afternoon tea. I have to say that having Dave in the club is certainly an asset even though it is possibly detrimental to our waistlines. Thank you Dave for making them and to Bonnie and her team for serving them. We really are thankful for everything you do for the club.
What a lovely evening on Saturday! Tony and Dee hosted a 60's quiz. The atmosphere was jovial and relaxed. The quiz was great fun with us all having the answers on the tip of our tongue and most of us even getting them down on paper. Sadly for us (The Crash Test Dummies) most of the answers stayed on the tip of our tongue not on paper and our team came last. However the defeat would have far more humiliating if it hadn't been for new member Andy's knowledge. The eventual winners were team Table Tennis Champs, well done to them (I suspect that David was 'the oracle' on this team though). After the quiz the sounds of the 60's were played and many of us got up to dance, even Glenis was brought to the dance floor in her wheelchair and danced around. Many thanks to Tony and Dee for putting the quiz together and hosting for us, we really appreciate all of your hard work and we had a great time.
I also hope everyone noticed the new pool cue rack that was built by Clyde. I know Steve for one was delighted to have 'found' his cue which had been collecting dust under one of the seats in the Pavillion (not sure if it will improve his game though). The cue rack has saved a lot of room in that corner and the seating area there is now less cluttered. Thank you Clyde for taking the time to make it for the club.
